Day 20 of the 365 Nail Art Challenge is pure fall in a cup. ☕️ 🎃
When Starbucks and Peanuts dropped their fall collaboration on September 15, one of the gift cards stopped me in my tracks: Linus pulling a wagon with a pumpkin and cup of coffee, Sally and Charlie Brown with their coffee cups and scarves, Woodstock fluttering overhead, and Snoopy napping on top of it all. I knew it had to become a nail.
The Inspiration
The idea came together when I saw 3D Snoopy nails on Pinterest. The 3D Snoopies are draped over the tip of the nail was so cute, and it gave me the push to build my own version around the Starbucks gift card scene.
The Design
I started with a sage green and yellow plaid base to give the whole nail that cozy autumn picnic feel. Near the cuticle, I hand-painted the Starbucks siren logo, with two little 3D pumpkins sitting right beside it.
Down the length of the nail, the Peanuts gang walks in a line just like on the gift card. Linus pulls his red wagon with a pumpkin and a coffee cup inside, Sally follows with her scarf flying, and Charlie Brown brings up the rear in his orange beanie with a cup of his own. Woodstock is tucked in at the end.
The finishing touch is at the free edge: a sculpted pumpkin with Snoopy lying right on top, just like his famous nap on the doghouse roof.
Small Characters, Big Details
Painting four characters on one nail means every face is tiny, so the linework does most of the talking. A fine liner brush and a steady hand are what make Linus look like Linus and Sally look like Sally. Take it slow, and don’t be afraid to go back in and refine your outlines once the colors are down.
Your Turn
Have you picked up anything from the Peanuts collab yet? And what fall look should I paint next? Drop your ideas in the suggestion box on the 365 Challenge page. The Nail Tribe keeps me inspired, and your idea could be the next day in the challenge.
See you next Tuesday for Day 21.
