Wrong lever. 🦙
Day 7 and we’re in Emperor’s New Groove territory, possibly the most underrated Disney movie of all time, and I will die on that hill. Kuzco. Yzma. Kronk. The poison. The llama. These nails have it all, and doing this set genuinely made me want to rewatch the whole movie immediately after.
If you know every line of this film by heart, you are my people.
About This Look
Disney nail art is a category unto itself, and Emperor’s New Groove is criminally underrepresented in it. Most Disney nail art gravitates toward the princesses, which I get, but the character design in this film is so expressive and cartoony that it actually translates beautifully to nail art.
The key to capturing a Disney character’s likeness at nail size is finding their most iconic feature, for Kuzco it’s the hair and the expression, for Yzma it’s the purple and the severe angles, and making sure that one thing is unmistakable. Everything else is secondary.
I used gel paint for the character work here with minimal shading. The 3D element for the gold accessories was created with clear 3D gel, painted black, then covered with chrome power to add that extra dimension. If you’re going to do fandom nails, commit to the bit.
